LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – With this great weekend weather, there was no reason to stay home. Many who feel this way got out and enjoyed a longstanding western Massachusetts tradition: Long Meddowe Days, when the Longmeadow common is filled with weekend visitors.
Some came to see old friends, others were there to trace back the history of Longmeadow. And it wasn’t even necessary to be from Longmeadow to enjoy Long Meddowe Days.
The Hill Family, from Somers, Conn., told 22News, “We just found a nice day to do something outside, a beautiful day. Took the family, enjoying the weather and checking it out.”
“Well we love to see our friends and children have been here,” said the Brackman Family from Longmeadow. “We love walking around, seeing all the different crafters.”
During one weekend in May for the past 34 years, Long Meddowe Days has forged a tradition that’s become an important part of the town’s culture and identity.
