SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield’s community baby shower reached a milestone on Saturday.
20 years ago, the city’s Health and Human Service Department created an event to help new moms and mothers to be. The 20th anniversary shower at Commerce High School attracted hundreds of families and many couples expecting their first child.
Organizers told 22News, they’ve learned from this experience that to raise a healthy child takes more than just a mother’s concern. It takes a network of services provided by the necessary agencies.
Pregnant and parenting women and the men in their lives consulted with the many social service agencies there to provide advice and distribute vital information.
As the community baby shower begins its 21st year, organizers say they’ve helped thousands of families raise healthier children.
