BRIMFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Brimfield Antique Show is underway again along Route 20 in Brimfield. Wednesday was day 2 of the 6 day fair that takes place three times a year.
Even as many people turn to the internet to get hard to find items, some people told 22news nothing beats the chance to look through the collections in person.
“I like to think people like to get them in their hands, touch them, feel them, and they know if they’re authentic or if they’re reproductions and then can tell the value of them more. Whereas eBay you don’t really know what you’re buying until you get it,” said Marybeth Sherbo from Agawam.
The weather cooperated, cloudy but staying dry with temperatures in the low 70s. The entire antique show takes place outdoors, making dry conditions important for the casual shopper.
“The weather’s important I think, you have your die hard’s who will come out here,” said Ann Desmond from Ware.
For some people cloudier mild days, like Wednesday, are better than hot, sunny days because people stop to shop.
“When it’s really hot, which I like, more people just quickly go through. So having it be like this, a bit overcast, it’s cooler and more manageable for people to stay longer and spend more time looking,” said Doug Emerson from Portland, Maine.
Some collectors told 22News you get more variety earlier in the week, but better deals as the antique show gets closer to the end.
The Brimfield Antique Show continues through May 18th then returns in July and again in early September.
