SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – After a stormy Saturday, the weather cleared out just in time for the date dedicated to moms across the country.
After many showery weekends the past couple months the weather finally cooperated for this Mother’s Day with temperatures about ten degrees warmer than normal.
Temperatures this warm felt closer to typical Father’s Day weather in mid June, rather than Mother’s Day.
This day was dedicated to the moms, with sons and daughters across western Massachusetts very appreciative for what mom does every day of the year.
“She does nice things for me and daddy, she cooks for us, she cleans our clothes. She makes happy thoughts,” said Rylie Viale from Springfield.
Many families went to Forest Park on Mother’s Day, enjoying a dry and unusually mild afternoon.
“They made lots of cupcakes for me yesterday. We’re going to spend the day in the park. Maybe have a little grill and spend some nice quality time…It’s absolutely beautiful out and we are going to enjoy this day and spend lots of time outside,” said Jennifer Clark from Springfield.
The warm and sunny weather made it easy to get the whole family together.
“We get to spend some family time together. Got to go to the zoo for a little while and my oldest has soccer today. So we got to go and spend some time together as a family,” said Christina Fleming from Longmeadow.
Together outside before more rain returns this week.
