ORANGE, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Franklin County accused of possessing a large amount of child pornography has been ordered by a judge to stay away from children.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of David Johnstone, 46, of Orange, who was arraigned Friday afternoon in Orange District Court.
Prosecutors had requested $25,000 cash bail, but the judge set bail for Johnstone at $3,000 cash instead. He was ordered to stay at least 25 yards away from anyone under age 18, and cannot enter a park or recreation area where anyone under age 18 may be present. He is also not allowed to have a gun.
Mary Carey from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office told 22News that Johnstone was arrested at his Ward Road home around 5:30 Wednesday evening, after police executed a search warrant.
Carey says that during their search, town police officers and state troopers found more than six gigabytes of child pornography, as well as six loaded, unsecured, and unlicensed guns.
Johnstone is due back in court on June 3.
