LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The small dog, formerly know as Scrunchy, is happy and healthy with his new owner Alison Metcalfe; months after being allegedly abused and left for dead back in February by his former owner.
Ludlow Police Sgt. Daniel Valadas told 22News back in February that Costa admitted he had beaten the dog and lead officers to where he had dumped it in the snow. When officers went to retrieve the dog’s body, they found the dog wounded, and still alive.
Jameson needed about $10,000 worth of surgery which was paid for through donations. The dog was treated for a fractured skull at Boston Road Animal Hospital in Springfield.
His new owner, Alison Metcalfe, told 22News Jameson still can’t see out of his left eye and sometimes has trouble with his back legs, but other than that, he’s a playful pup, just like any other one and a half year old dogs.
“The other two I have, they all get along. He goes to doggy day care and he has lots of friends. They all play together, and they all get along. They get along very well. He’s a good dog,” said Metcalfe.
Costa is being charged with felony animal cruelty.
