Honors at White House for Yiddish Book Center

WASHINGTON (WWLP) – The Yiddish Book Center in Amherst was recognized during a ceremony at the White House Thursday morning.

First Lady Michelle Obama presented the 2014 National Medal for Museum and Library Service to this year’s recipients in a ceremony in the East Room.

The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community.

In its 20th anniversary year, the medals program celebrates excellent institutions that have made a significant impact on individuals, families, and communities across the nation.

The museums and facilities that were honored today come from ten different states. Mystic Aquarium, in Connecticut was also one of the honorees.
