Families forced out of Pittsfield home by fire

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Seven people have had to find a new place to live, following a fire at their multi-family home in Pittsfield early Thursday morning.

According to a news release sent to 22News by the Pittsfield Fire Department, they received a call about the fire at 6-8 Franco Terrace around 3:00 A.M. Everyone who was inside the three-story home got out safely.

Firefighters found there was heavy fire coming from the back of the house, and the flames had spread to the attic before they were able to put the fire out.

One firefighter received a minor injury, but did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The Pittsfield Fire Department is still looking into what caused the fire.

The residents of the home have already found places to stay, according to the fire department.
