Man undergoing evaluation after decapitating dog

NEW YORK (NBC News) – A West Virginia man has been hospitalized and is undergoing an evaluation after decapitating a tiny dog.

For Wood County Humane Officer Tyler Masters it was a horrifying experience, one he never expected for his first service call.

The 21-year-old is pursuing a career with animals.

He was home when he got the call from authorities Friday night that 32-year-old Jack Kingery of St. Marys beheaded his own dog with a box cutter in what police are calling a “sacrifice”.

“It was pretty crazy. I was numb most of the ride home,” says Masters. “That somebody has the capability of doing that to an animal. It was just mind blowing.”
