E. Longmeadow nursing aide denies charges of rape

Parkpoom Seesangrit of Great Barrington is seen here during his Palmer District Court arraignment on a rape charge.

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – An East Longmeadow Nursing home aide is accused of sexually assaulting an elderly patient.

Parkpoom Seesangrit of Great Barrington has been suspended indefinitely from East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Right now he is being held on $500,000 cash bail and he must stay away from all nursing facilities.

A nursing assistant who started working at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center back in January is now accused of sexually assaulting a 69-year-old patient who has dementia.

A Palmer District Court Judge ordered him to give up his passport and stay away from the alleged victim and all nursing homes.

East Longmeadow Police arrested Seesangrit late Tuesday night. Another nurse had found him in a female patient’s room, in what police called “inappropriate circumstances.”

Hampden Assistant District Attorney Lori Odierna said at arraignment, “The defendant said that he was sorry. She then said ‘You know this is looking bad for you, what did you do?’ and he replied, ‘I know I’m in trouble. This looks bad. Sorry.'”

At Seesangrit’s arraignment Wednesday, Defense Attorney James Gregory told the judge, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. He said, “He was merely trying to assist this alleged victim in some matters of personal hygiene.”

Skilled Nursing Center released a statement, saying: “The alleged sexual assault against one of our residents is an abomination and a very serious crime against one of the most vulnerable members of our community.”

The next court date for Seesangrit is June 5th.
