Holyoke School Committee considers restoring the Lynch School

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke School Committee weighed the benefits of restoring the former Lynch School Monday night.

The superintendent asked the school committee to explore the benefits moving the Metcalf pre-school program  to the old Lynch School. If that happened, there’d be room to move the School Department Headquarters to Metcalf.

Erin Brunelle, of the Holyoke School Committee Ward 7, told 22News “We’re currently paying about $330,000 a year in rent to lease down at Suffolk Street for Central Office.  So it would be some savings there if we could move that out to Metcalf.”

No decision was made Monday.

Mayor Morse wanted to see what the bids look like to renovate the building, and those bids are due Tuesday.
