SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A cool and breezy day proved to be perfect running weather. On Sunday, about 100 runners and walkers laced up their sneakers and stepped off from South Hadley High School.
It was the 2nd annual TigerPride Trot. Organized by the South Hadley Music Parents Association, the run and walk raises money beyond what’s in the budget for music programs.
There was a 5K walk or run, and then a 10K run. The winners of each age division were given awards.
There were fun runs for the kids, along with raffle prizes and a performance by the Belchertown Twirlers.
22News talked to one runner who explained what the music department has done for her.
“It has done everything,” said drum major Alexa King. “A lot of my best friends are in the music department, and I’ve met a lot of new people. I’ve been able to expand my horizons and explore new things through the music department and it’s just been great.”
For the second year, 22News reporter Matt Caron was honored to serve as the event’s emcee.
The race finish line was at the athletic field in back of South Hadley High School.
