WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of people have registered for a five-mile walk to help raise funds for those suffering from multiple sclerosis.
It’s a 5 mile walk held by Walk MS Springfield. This year is the first year the event was held at Stanley Park. 22News spoke to participants and organizers who say the location of the M-S Springfield walk isn’t what’s important, it’s the cause.
MS is a disease that interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. It’s typically diagnosed between ages 20 and 50, but teenagers and even young children can have the disease.
In Massachusetts, about 12,000 individuals and families are affected by it. All the proceeds will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
