(WWLP) – Since Governor Patrick signed into law a bill that legalized casino gambling in Massachusetts, there have been votes on gaming proposals in several communities across the state.

Plans by Hard Rock International for a casino in West Springfield, and by Mohegan Sun for a casino in Palmer were rejected, while MGM’s Springfield casino proposal was accepted by city voters. 22News has a look back on who has voted on casinos, how the voters decided, and how things stand now.

On 22News Friday night starting at 5, 22News I-Team reporter Ryan Walsh will take a closer look at the effort to prevent any casinos from becoming a reality in Massachusetts, and why that could be a decision the whole state may be able to make in November.
