LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP)– There are new developments in the case of a young boy from Fitchburg who was missing for several months, and later found dead.

Alberto Sierra, who is being held on kidnapping, assault, and child endangerment charges in the Jeremiah Oliver case, could get transferred to a western Massachusetts jail.

Sierra’s girlfriend, Elsa Oliver, is the boy’s mother. She was arrested and pleaded not guilty to similar charges.

The five year-old boy was last seen alive in September, though his disappearance was not reported to police until December. Oliver’s body was found last month, not far from Interstate 190 in the town of Sterling. No one has yet been charged in connection with his death.

Sierra is currently being held at the Essex County Jail in Middleton, just north of Boston, but a judge has approved a request to transfer him to a facility here in western Massachusetts. Sierra’s lawyer had argued for a transfer, saying that his client fears for his safety at the Middleton jail.

The suspect is being moved to an undisclosed jail in our region, either the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction in Pittsfield, the Franklin County Jail in Greenfield, the Hampshire County Jail and House of Corrections in Northampton, or the Hampden County Correction Center in Ludlow.
