EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It is now May, and with temperatures warming up, people are looking to get out in their gardens.

Garden centers, such as Graziano Gardens in East Longmeadow, have an abundance of plants and flowers available.

The cool and wet weather we had last month has kept a lot of people from starting their planting, but there are some things that are pretty safe to put in the ground now.

“They can definitely do all the perennials and shrubs, trees. Some of the annuals are cold-tolerant. There are a lot of things that can go outside right now,” owner Chris Graziano said.

We can still get a frost this time of year, so you should be ready to cover or bring in you plants if temperatures drop down below freezing.

Grazino told 22News that he is expecting business to really start to pick up this weekend and next weekend, with Mother’s Day next Sunday.
