Big week for dog adoptions in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A follow up on a story we first told you about last month: it’s been the biggest week for dog adoptions since the Westfield Animal Control Center opened four years ago.

Five dogs were adopted since 22News first reported that there were too few adoptions at the overcrowded shelter.

Volunteers and staff at the animal shelter told 22News, they’re overjoyed people are providing homes for these animals.

Westfield Animal Control assistant Kerri Francis said, “I am happy, very happy; we’re getting a lot of dogs out of here, thanks to you. We’re hoping that more pet lovers will come in and adopt a pit bull.”

Of the five dogs adopted during the past week, animal lovers adopted just one pit bull.
