SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News I-Team is working for you by making sure the city of Springfield didn’t overspend on its casino consultants.
The city has a contract with Shefsky and Froehlich that said it would not pay them more than $125,000 in their first year from July, 2012 to June 2013. Not more than $50,000 from July 2013 to June 2014 and not more than $50,000 from July 2014 to June 2015.
The I-Team checked and the city paid their consultants slightly less than the money allowed.
In three payments in August and October of 2012, Springfield paid the consultants $124,790.
A city attorney told 22News MGM not only re-paid those fees, but has paid all the remaining bills since Springfield selected them a year ago. Which was part of their host community agreement.
