CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)– Business leaders from the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield are traveling to Boston for the 2014 Beacon Hill Business Summit on Wednesday.
State Senator Gale Candaras (D-Wilbraham), as well as members of the Greater Holyoke and Westfield Chambers of Commerce are also making the trip. They all boarded buses at the Plantation Inn in Chicopee Wednesday morning.
The summit is a day-long event that gives local business representatives a change to meet with state lawmakers, to share ideas about the issues that matter most to business leaders in Western Mass.
Some of the topics of the day include transportation, housing and economic development, and hospital care.
Senator Candaras told 22News she expects much of the day’s conversation to be focused on things that could affect the Western Mass. economy like Changchun, the Chinese railway car company that wants to build a factory at the former Westinghouse property in Springfield.
Candaras also said that taxes are expected to be a big part of the day’s discussions.
22News reporter Tiffany Chan will be at the summit and have full coverage of the event on 22News starting at 5 P.M.
