Flood Watch for Hampden, Berkshire Counties

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – With rain on Tuesday evening and more expected for Wednesday, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Hampden County and Berkshire County from Wednesday evening into Thursday afternoon.

A Flood Watch is issued when weather conditions exist that could result in flooding. It is different from a Flood Warning, which is issued when flooding is imminent, or already happening.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says that we could receive anywhere from 1″ to 2″ of rain through Thursday evening.

The flooding concern is primarily for streets and areas with poor drainage, though there could also be some river and small stream flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
