Father Scahill announces retirement from Parish

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass (WWLP) – St. Michael’s parishioners in East Longmeadow will soon have a different priest. Father James Scahill has announced he is retiring.

He sent out a letter to parishioners saying his last day would be June 30th, after 40 years as a priest; 12 of those at St. Michael’s Parish.  Father Scahill has been known for speaking out against the Catholic Church.

He acknowledged some of those statements in his notice of retirement to parishioners.  Parish employees told 22News the Diocese is now beginning the process of finding Father Scahill’s replacement.
