Fire burns 3-story home in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass, (WWLP) – The Red Cross has been called to assist four people burned out of a three-story home on Dickinson Street in Springfield, Tuesday night.

Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, Dennis Leger told 22News, “The flames went through the roof. It looks like the fire started on an upper floor. The Arson and Bomb Squad is investigating.”

Leger said there was “heavy damage” to the building at 571 Dickinson Street, not far from the “X.” The fire started around 6:15 pm Tuesday, and firefighters had it under control within 45 minutes.

No one was hurt.

Leger said the fire started inside the building on an upper floor. He said the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is investigating, but they do not believe the fire was set.
