MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) –They listened to her sing. Tears flowed, and so did memories of 16-year old Maren Sanchez.
“It’s just so nice to see so many people that cared who came out to support her,” said Samantha Page of Milford.
“She used to say hi to me and stuff like that. I used to say hi. It’s just so sad that she’s gone,” said Jack Shuckerow, who was her neighbor.
Friday morning police say she was stabbed to death at Jonathon Law High School by a fellow student. They’re investigating whether or not it was because she declined his invitation to prom.
Monday night purple, her favorite color, packed the football field.
“She was the nicest girl on earth, and she did everything for everyone,” said friend Taylor McNary, a junior at Jonathan Law High.
Police say more than 1,000 came including family, friends, local politicians and spiritual leaders.
They offered comforting words and remembered the talented teen who loved to sing, act, and above all else make new friends.
“She was just a really great person. Whenever I would see her in the hallway she would always have a smile on her face,” said senior Justin White.
