MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A bomb was discovered on a busy Massachusetts road on Sunday.
The pipe bomb was found in the town of Marshfield along the south eastern coast of the state.
The bomb was found on Ocean Street.
The state fire marshal’s office said the pipe bomb exploded when police performed diagnostic tests on it while trying to disrupt it Sunday evening. A spokeswoman says the pipe bomb was sensitive to shock and friction. It’s now a criminal investigation.
No threats were made to the town in the hours leading up to the device’s discovery.
Marshfield residents are being told to be on high alert tonight.
