BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A jury in Bridgeport has awarded $8 million for an Easton boy who was severely injured when a dump truck crashed into his family’s car in 2010.
The Connecticut Post reports that a Superior Court jury found the landscaping company Designing Nature responsible Thursday for the negligence of its driver. It ordered the Easton company to pay damages to the McCauley family.
Testimony at the three-week trial indicated that Thomas McCauley was driving with his two sons and their two friends in the car when they were hit by the dump truck. The boy who was then 9 years old had be extricated from the car and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
A lawyer for the landscape company’s insurance carrier declined to comment on the verdict.
The boy’s parents also declined to comment.
