GRAFTON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are looking into the death of a 4-month-old baby from central Massachusetts, whose family was under investigation by state child welfare officials.
The baby girl was found dead in her mother’s Grafton apartment on April 11.
A spokesman for the Worcester district attorney’s office said Thursday that investigators are awaiting autopsy results. So far it has only been classified as an “unattended death” and the investigation is not considered criminal in nature.
Officials from the state Department of Children and Families confirmed that the baby’s family was under investigation by the agency. The department, which has come under fire, is conducting its own investigation.
