NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday would be a good day to do some spring cleaning inside your medicine cabinet. 22News is working to tell you about National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Saturday you’ll have a chance to safely dispose of the unwanted or expired drugs that may be hiding in the back of your medicine cabinet. More than 7 tons of meds have been collected so far.
There’s collection sites set up in many cities and towns across Hampshire and Franklin County. You’ll be able to get rid of prescription and non-prescription medication, vitamins and pet medication.
Restricted items include needles, syringes, liquids, IV equipment and chemotherapy drugs. 22News asked people what their medicine cabinet looks like.
“It’s full. My wife has mega medicines and vitamins and everything and I’m sure there’s something in the back that she may not be paying attention too,” said Lee Sutter.
If you can’t make it to one of the drop off sites tomorrow, there’s permanent drop off locations at 17 police departments across Hampshire and Franklin Counties.
