SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A select group of students were honored Wednesday for their work both inside and outside of the classroom.
American International College held a special ceremony recognizing 14 graduating students who have or are currently serving our country. One of the honorees told 22News why today was such an amazing experience.
“Just to be here graduating, the light at the end of the tunnel is that much better,” said graduating veteran Bill Garvey of Enfield, Conn. “One day you know we will probably be back here doing the same thing, as graduates 20 years, congratulating the members that are graduating 20 years from now.”
The AIC veterans’ resource center representative said the event is a way to honor the veterans for their service and academic achievement.
This year’s ribbon ceremony recognized William Palazzi, Eric Ruiz and Roger St. Onge of Springfield; Dnyanesh Kanake and Patrick Shinoda of Longmeadow; Robert Arbour of Monson; Michael Barclay of Palmer; William Garvey of Enfield, Conn.; Kenneth Hileman of Portsmouth, R.I.; Jacob Quinney of Brattleboro, Vt,; April Rex of Holyoke; Laura Rousseau of Chicopee; Yuri Troshin of Westfield; and Laura tuck of Ludlow.
