SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Harlan Kent, the President and CEO of Yankee Candle, is leaving the company.
Kent’s departure was confirmed late Tuesday afternoon by Rachel Wilson, a spokesperson with Jarden Corp, which purchased the company last September.
Wilson declined to comment on when Kent would be leaving the company or who would be his successor.
Kent has been with the company for 13 years. 22News interviewed Kent after Jarden Corp. acquired Yankee Candle last fall for $1.75 billion. At the time, Kent said the company would not leave Franklin County.
“They buy companies and they hold companies and I think that’s what this is going to be for Yankee Candle, which will allow us to focus on building the long term business that we want and creating the long term goal of job opportunities here in Western Massachusetts and around the world,” Kent had told 22News.
Jarden, a consumer products company, is best known for brands like crock-pot, Coleman camping gear, and Mr. coffee.
