NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Tuesday is Earth Day and there is a simple way you can reduce your impact on the environment and help a local domestic violence agency at the same time.
You can recycle your old, no-longer used cell phones, batteries and accessories through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program. The program supports local domestic violence agencies, like Safe Passage in Northampton, by providing them with cash grants and well as cell phones to vitims in need.
Safe Passage Executive Director Marianne Winters told 22News, “it’s one of the main corner stones of of safety planning program because communication and reaching out in an emergency is in many ways the most important thing people can do.”
As part of the refurbishing process the HopeLine program scrubs all donated phones to ensure all the previous customer information is removed. For information on how to donate your old phone, click here.
