WMass runners ready to take part in historic Marathon

HOPKINTON, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s a big day for runners of the Boston Marathon, who will be showing their support for victims of last year’s tragedy.

Dozens of them are members of the West Springfield Harriers Athletic Club, which boarded a bus in West Springfield on the way to the starting line in Hopkinton Monday morning.

22News reporter Laura Hutchinson is among the thousands of people who will be running in Monday’s race, and she rode along with the Harriers as they made their way across the state to begin this much-watched, historic race.

The runners in the Harriers group range from seasoned marathoners who have run Boston, as well as countless other races, while others are running this historic course for the first time.
