SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts Electric Company crews have restored power to almost 1,400 customers in Springfield Monday night.
WMECO spokeswoman Ana Alfaro told 22News the power went out in the neighborhood that includes Rifle, Pine and Central Streets at about 4:15 p.m. Monday.
“The area is mostly residential, and has a few small businesses,” Alfaro said.
Street lights and traffic lights were dark, as are homes in the neighborhood.
The WMECO Restoration website indicated there were 1,379 customers without power, representing less than 1% of the total customers served in the city.
Power was restored to all residents at 10:05. Alfaro told 22News the repair crews traced the problem to an underground cable.
