Easter weekend and it feels like spring

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – If Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, some might consider Easter the real start of spring.

At Oak Ridge Golf Club in Feeding Hills, there was a big sense of relief for many people as it seems like spring is well and truly here to stay.

“It’s just nice to open up the windows and all that and let the sunshine in,” Brad Cooper of Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

After our long winter delayed the start of golf season by a couple weeks, some of the first few rounds of golf of the season were being played this Easter weekend.

“I think a lot of families come out, you know, we like to see in the afternoon the families. I guess it gives a good excuse to get out of the house, get some exercise, they come out as a family day on the afternoons on Easter. You see a lot of husbands, wives, kids which makes it nice,” said Mono Strycharz the president of Oak Ridge Golf Club.

Unlike New Year’s Day and Valentine’s Day which are typically colder weather holidays, Easter is really our first warmer weather holiday and people expect it to feel that way.

“It’s the kick off to spring so it gives everybody that feeling of spring’s finally in the air so I think it’s great to have a good weekend,” said Ron Viens of Agawam.

And if the weather cooperates, the outdoor activities that come with the holiday can go off without a hitch.

“I have grand kids in New Hampshire coming down today and they still have a foot of snow in their yard and for me Easter weekend for them coming down they can enjoy the grass and hunt for eggs and stuff,” said Bill Latorra of Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

The best part is this weather lasts all weekend.
