BOSTON (WWLP) – With only three days to go, the runners are making their final preparations for the Boston Marathon.
Thousands of runners came to the Hynes Convention Center in Boston on Friday, in order to pick up their bibs for the race.
Runners are also attending an expo, where they are fueling up for the run, getting last-minute tips for the 26.2 mile race, and buying some souvenirs.
22News spoke with someone who will be running this year’s marathon for a charity that gives back to people impacted by last year’s tragedy.
Robert Boyda said, “To see so much enthusiasm, especially for this race, after everything that happened last year, these people are on a mission. It’s so wonderful because we’re giving back to the community, we’re giving back to the people who helped out so much with all the problems that went on last year and while those problems persist, that’s why we run.”
22News anchor and I-Team reporter Laura Hutchinson is one of the thousands participating in this year’s race. You can follow her progress and learn about her training on 22News and on WWLP.com
