CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – 50 years of service and care.
The Valley Opportunity Council celebrated a big landmark Thursday night. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Munich Haus in Chicopee.
The executive director says they’re proud of their accomplishments but are focused on continuing to grow.
Stephen Huntley told 22News, “We’ve come a long way in the 50 years but there’s still a long way to go, when the Economic Opportunity Act was signed, unemployment was around 25%; it’s still in the double-digits in our area.”
Valley Opportunity provides fuel assistance, early education and care and a number of other important services in the community.
