Police: Woman charged with OUI after hitting pedestrian

FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WWLP) – Agawam Police are investigating a accident that took place on South West Street in Feeding Hills where a man was hit by car around noontime Thursday.

According to Agawam Police Sgt. Jennifer Blanchette, around 12:17 p.m. Thursday, police received multiple 911 calls of a car hitting a person at 491 South West Street.

Sgt. Blanchette said that officers and paramedics from the Agawam Fire Department treated the man, who was suffering from serious injury. He was later taken to Baystate Medical Center. As of Friday morning, he was listed in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation shows that a husband and wife were walking north on Southwest St. when a Gray 2012 Nissan Altima hit the man and continued on. The driver, Cathy Sabol of Feeding Hills, then allegedly hit various items before coming to a stop.

Sabol was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Serious Bodily Injury; Marked Lanes Violation; Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident; Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident; Negligent Operation; and Speeding.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators assigned to the Agawam Police Department Traffic Bureau are being assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and Crime Scene Services.

The identity of the victim is not being released until the family has been notified.

Agawam Police had closed a portion of South West Street in Feeding Hills while they conducted their investigation early Thursday afternoon.
