CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – People in western Massachusetts woke up with some mid-April snow Wednesday morning, and if that wasn’t enough, on Thursday they woke up with temperatures in the low 20’s, which broke an all-time record for western Massachusetts.
22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says that the official temperature at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee hit 23 degrees around 6:00 A.M. That breaks the old record for April 17 of 26 degrees, which was set back in 1946.
Meanwhile, amid Tuesday’s rain and the melting snow a Flood Warning remains in effect for the Connecticut River at Northampton and Montague. The Connecticut River at Northampton will crest to 114 feet, while the CT River at Montague will crest at 30 feet. 22News Storm Team Meteorologist Brian Lapis said only minor flooding is expected.
