CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Moose sightings tend to be more common in rural, wooded areas, but every once in a while, one of the giant animals shows up in a residential neighborhood.
That was the case in Chicopee on Wednesday evening, when Joseph G. sent 22News this photo of a moose roaming his yard near Green Street in Fairview.
While they can be seen all year round, moose sightings in western Massachusetts tend to be the most frequent in the autumn months, when moose are in their mating season.
MassWildlife estimates that there are some 850-900 moose living in Massachusetts, with northern Worcester County being home to the most moose in the state.
