Minor flooding in some areas of Conn. River

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Despite a sunny day today, flooding is still occurring along the Connecticut River. The 22New Storm Team shows you a few areas where flooding continues to be a problem.

Fortunately we’re dealing with mainly minor spring flooding. though water continues to pour over the Holyoke Dam. Rain earlier this week and snow melt up north has caused water levels on the Connecticut River to rise.

In Agawam the river is running pretty high. Some of the docks and the parking lot of the Springfield Yacht Club are underwater. Some people have been keeping an eye on the rising water levels.

Lou Manzi of Stonington, Connecticut told 22News “Oh yeah very concerned about that down where I live a lot of flooding also and we have a pond on our property and it’s coming up pretty highs so we’re keeping an eye on that.”

In most places the river is cresting. It will continue to rise in Holyoke tonight and crest early Friday morning. The river is expected to slowly recede to below flood stage this weekend.
