Swollen rivers and streams in western Massachusetts

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP)-  Western Massachusetts experienced some swollen rivers and streams after an overnight rain, sleet, and snow into Wednesday morning.

Mild flooding was expected along the Connecticut River in Montague, Northampton,and over the state line in Thompsonville, Connecticut.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor said the Connecticut River in Montague was at 27.4 feet Wednesday morning,the flood stage is 28 feet, and it’s expected to crest at 30 feet within 24 hours.

The Connecticut River at Northampton was at 111.9 feet Wednesday morning, the flood stage was 112 feet, and it’s expected to crest at 114.4 feet within 24 hours.

The Northampton Police Department had not received any phone calls regarding flooding in the early morning hours.
