Springfield apartment damaged in fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three children and one adult have been forced from their Springfield apartment after a fire there this morning.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner told 22News that the fire started in a second-floor bedroom at 286 Allen Park Road at around 10:40 A.M.

No one was home at the time, and no other apartments were damaged, as firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly.

There is no word at this time on what caused the fire.

According to Ashley Studley of the Red Cross, they are helping the family with food, clothing, and emergency shelter at a hotel.
