Guilty plea in Failure to Register as Sex Offender case

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – A 55-year-old man Level 3 sex offender pleaded guilty Monday in Franklin Superior Court and was charged with misleading police and failing to register as a sex offender.

According to Mary Carey of the Northwestern DA’s office, 55-year-old William Brannigan listed his address as homeless. Brannigan pleaded guilty to charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Montague, Misleading a Police Officer and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Greenfield.

Carey said Brannigan is classified as a Level 3 sex offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board. Brannigan was convicted in 2008 in Greenfield District Court for 2 counts of Indecent Assault & Battery on a Person 14-years of age or Older.

Brannigan was sentenced to 4 ½ to 5 years in state prison, to be followed by 5 years of probation, and also undergo sex offender treatment.
