Early morning house fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)- The Springfield fire department is looking into what caused a fire early Tuesday morning at a home on Tinkham Road in the Sixteen Acres neighborhood.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News, firefighters were called to a fire at a one story ranch style home at 318 Tinkham Road around 1 a.m.

Nobody was inside the home at the time of the fire and no one was injured, Leger said.

Firefighters had the flames under control within an hour.

The fire started in the cellar, but fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause, Leger said.
