SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman arrested early Monday morning for stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the chest claims she did so in self defense, Springfield police say.
Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Latrisa Pace, 31, of Springfield faces charges including witness intimidation and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon following the incident on Central Street.
Delaney says that police were called to 351 Central Street around 1:10 A.M., where they found a 48 year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, and is listed in good condition.
According to Delaney, both the victim and a woman who were inside the apartment said that Pace knocked on the door around 1:00 looking for the victim, who she said was cheating on her. The two argued, and it was then that Pace stabbed him.
Police found her a short time later walking near Walnut and James Street. She was arrested, but told officers that she acted in self defense, Delaney said.
Pace was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court.
