AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday’s beautiful weather made it that much easier to attract a big crowd for the fifth-annual UMass 5K Dash and Dine fundraiser on the Amherst campus.
Hundreds got in step to help raise thousands of dollars to benefit the Amherst Survival Center. The UMass Dining Services organized the event.
Support came from the students who say they wanted to do some good and get some exercise.
UMass sophomore Brendan Moore told 22News, “It’s for a good cause, it’s a lot of fun, I know it was going to be great weather, so I figured why not.”
Seth Stutman, co-host of the daily 22News lifestyle program Mass Appeal, was the master of ceremonies for the Dash and Dine benefit.
And you didn’t have to be a runner to help the Survival Center. Walking was just as helpful.
Based on the amount raised last year, organizers expect to donate $5,000 to help the Survival Center continue its good work.
