CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – I have good news for you. The clever football film, “Draft Day” restores Kevin Costner to the top of his game.

Only the most ruthless and cunning survive in the game of drafting the best college players into the National Football League. Costner, like all the General Managers, plays recruiting as a blood sport.

Take away their smart phones and I’m afraid their world of wheeling and dealing would collapse.

Costner’s a joy to watch, trying to out think and out maneuver the competition. Denis Leary makes a welcome return to the big screen as Costner’s skeptical coach.

The crisp, rapid fire dialogue energizes the character keeping us anxiously waiting for each new twist and turn.

Costner’s game plan is every bit as intricate as a coaches playbook. Jennifer Garner isn’t just the love of Costner’s life. She’s the common sense architect of his tough decisions.

I think “Draft Day” is the pick of the new movies out there right now. It’s probably the most appealing sports film since Brad Pitt’s “Money ball”.

See if you don’t agree “Draft Day” comes up a winner with 3 stars. I found “Draft Day” exhilarating entertainment.
