Wilbraham home damaged by fire

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A family has been forced out of their Wilbraham home following a fire late Friday morning.

Wilbraham Fire Capt. David Bourcier told 22News that firefighters from Three Rivers, Palmer, and Ludlow were called in to help them put out the fire at 43 Red Bridge Road.

Bourcier said that the owner of the house was home at the time of the fire, and though he briefly tried to get the fire under control, had called 911 and got out safely.

There was heavy smoke coming from the second floor, and Bourcier says that they called in the extra help in part because there are no hydrants in that part of town.

He said that the family that lives there will not be able to go back home due to the damage, though they are making other arrangements.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Wilbraham firefighters as they look into the cause.
