BOSTON (WWLP) – The emotions are still very raw for the families who were affected by the Armenian Genocide, but top leaders, including the Governor, spoke about the great significance Armenians have in Massachusetts.
The Armenian community took a standing ovation as Governor Deval Patrick approached the microphone. April 11th marks the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide that killed 1.5-million of Turkey’s Armenian population.
The Governor delivered a heartwarming speech thanking the community for having his back and the impact they’ve had on Massachusetts.
“You have, without a doubt, made our Commonwealth better, but I’m here to tell you that you have made this man better,” said Governor Patrick.
Governor Patrick said he was humbled to be in the presence of survivors and that they are an extraordinary example of resilience of the human spirit.
