Life Sciences official toured Chicopee Comp.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A high school in Chicopee was on display Thursday morning, as lawmakers look for new ways to bring money into the area.

Chicopee State Representative Joe Wagner and Mayor Richard Kos gave a tour of Chicopee Comprehensive High School to Dr. Susan Windham Bannister, CEO of the MA Life Sciences Center are touring Chicopee Comprehensive High School. The goal of the visit was to familiarize Bannister with the facilities, so when it comes time to give out grant money, she knows what they’re all about.

The Life Sciences Center looks to promote workforce development in the sciences and the CEO says she was impressed by what she saw.

“Great work going on, this is a beautiful campus, beautiful facilities, state-of-the art. Things going on here. Obviously students are getting well-trained, we just want to help,” Bannister said.

The state’s Life Sciences Center was created by the Legislature in 2008, and is a competitive program.
