NEW YORK (NBC News) – In contrast to the reports that we often hear about computer viruses and data breaches, a new online issue has come to light this week with the “Heartbleed” Bug.
The bug is basically a mistake in widely used software that could make it easier for identity thieves to steal personal information from internet users.

“You never know what kind of flaw out there could open the door for hackers to get into your private information,” cautions CNET.com Editor in Chief, Lindsay Turrentine.
